Tips on Lasting Friendships: Signs of a breaking relationship

Introspect

Watch out for these signs, friendship usually does not break in a day, It is such a subtle process.

  • When friendship is at the brinks, communication or contact is minimal.
  • In the course of time, sentiments build up. The thought begins to sound like “Let me let him, let her be”
  • Give it a little more time and some form of pride sets in. Each will think “why should I be the one to reach out first”
  • Then gradually memory of each other becomes weak and the emotional bridge breaks
  • Two friends make faces and shun each other

“But what really happened?”  Probably some flimsy sorts.

Joyce Meyer on: Ways to Keep the devil under Your Feet

Year 2~Day 59 +030/366: Gift from Secret Pal (Photo credit: Old Shoe Woman)

It is no news, the devil has no good intentions for anyone. And interestingly, he’ll be around for a while, so, we’ll all have to learn to ‘manage’ him. Read on

He (the devil) may attack you or try to hurt you, but  a true child of God has got everything superior to keep him under feet.

Consider and remember these proven ways, as put together by Joyce Meyer.

  1. Remain calm and peaceful thru life’s storm
  2. Submit yourself to God
  3. Spend time with God – in devotion, in prayers
  4. Watch your mouth
  5. Walk in love
  6. Speak the word and promises of God into your life
  7. Halt and Conquer negative thoughts
  8. Be alert, pray always

Remember, God has already won our every battle and has given His own everything needed to keep the devil in place. Walk in this victory.

Inspiring Thoughts

inspired
inspired (Photo credit: paloetic)

These thoughts are inspiring, and the meanings, profound. Enjoy the lines.

  1.  Worrying does not take away tomorrow’s troubles; it rather takes away today’s PEACE.
  2. Prayer is not a “spare wheel” that you pull out when in trouble, but it is a “steering wheel” that directs the right path throughout life.
  3. All things in life are temporary. When things go well, enjoy them, and when things turn out the other way, don’t worry, they wont last long either.
  4. Old friends are like Gold and new friends, like Diamond. If you get a diamond, don’t forget the gold.  To hold a diamond, you always need a base of gold.
  5. Friendship is like a BOOK. It takes years to write but a few seconds to burn.
  6. Often when we lose hope and think this is the end, God smiles from above and says, “Relax, FRIEND; it’s just a bend, not the end!”
  7. When God shows up and solves your problems, that means you have faith in HIS abilities; when God doesn’t solve your problems, then that means He has faith in YOUR abilities.
  8. When you pray for others, God listens to you and blesses them, and sometimes, when you are safe and happy, remember that someone has prayed for you too.
  9. A blind person asked God: “Can there be anything worse than losing eye sight?” He replied: “Yes, losing your vision!”

How Great is Our God

Quotes on “Peace”

“Peace is not an absence of war, it is a virtue, a state of mind, …” ~Baruch Spinoza

“It is no longer good enough to cry peace, we must act peace, live peace, and live in peace.” ~Shenandoah proverb
“Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding”. ~ Albert Einstein

“A people free to choose will always choose peace” ~ Ronald Reagan

“I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality… I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word” ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.

Values – those principles that guide behaviour

Values and Virtues
Values and Virtues (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Have you at times wondered why you behave the way you do?

Think about your VALUES . They are most probably the reason(s) why you do what you do or behave the way you do.  Some call it ethical values, others call it moral principles.

What are Values?

VALUES are like filters,  they determine what is acceptable to you or not. whatever comes out of  your mouth or manifests in your behaviour depends on what your values have allowed to pass  or not to pass.

For instance:

If you value Justice — you will not oppress others and you will tend to dislike oppressors

If you value friendship — you’ll be tend to be forgiving

If you value Truth — you will not lie against another and you will not want to associate with people that lie

If you value good health,  you’ll be mindful of what you eat

If you value Peace of mind,  you’d want to stay away from trouble etc

Values  are those principles that guide our actions and inactions.

The Two Sides of the Number Line: understanding a nagging woman

Why actually would a woman call her husband “useless man” ? Let’s answer this question with a simple illustration.

If a man currently has 5 oranges but owes 14 oranges, how many oranges does he have in effect?  The answer is  -9. That is, he’s still in deficit of 9 oranges if he pays back the 5 he currently has.

That simply means, as long as what he owes outweighs what he pays back, in effect, he is still in deficit. This is a general truth. This is the lesson of the Number Line.

Thank You Mr Olusola Babalola

Money is not all things. You don’t necessarily need money to be a blessing to your world.

For certain problems, money is the solution
To any solution, idea is the foundation

However, it is one thing for men to conceive ideas, it is another thing to bring the ideas to reality.

If in any little way you have been inspired by any post on this space,
If in any small measure, anything here has helped enrich your day, then join me to say a big thank you to Mr Olusola Babalola.

Sola is one of those that nudged me and encouraged me (the author of this Blog) at the early phase of this project or idea. Now it is a reality. Thank you sir. Your encouragement is a good seed.

“It takes one person to forgive, it takes two people to be reunited”  ~Lewis B. Smedes

Husband-Wife communication issue: an interesting perspective

You may have read views on Husband-Wife communication, but read this other one. It brings on an interesting analogy to this evergreen topic – COMMUNICATION.

source: Word For Today

How’s Your Communication?
Husbands, love your wives. Ephesians 5:25
One of the biggest challenges in marriage is communication. Here’s an example: in the past, husbands went to work and wives stayed home to raise the children. Now, someone has estimated that the average man speaks about twenty-nine thousand words a day and the average woman speaks about thirty-three thousand words a day. That may not be accurate, but let’s use it as an illustration. He’s been out in the workplace all day and by the time he gets home he’s used up twenty-six thousand of his words, leaving only three thousand he feels no need to say. But she’s been locked up all day with the dishes, the nappies and the mundane. She has talked to her mother, friends and neighbours and used up about eight thousand words. So when he gets home she has twenty-five thousand words waiting for him. After a silent supper he spends the evening watching TV, then they go to bed. As he’s about to fall asleep a voice says, ‘Are you awake?’ If you are wise, you will be! If not, tomorrow night there will be fifty thousand words lying beside you. Do the math; in ten years there will be enough words to fill the central library. But maybe not; maybe there will be no words. A frequent reason given in divorce is: ‘We just got to where we had nothing to say to one another anymore.’ The Bible says, ‘Husbands, love your wives.’ Love listens when we have nothing particularly interesting to say. It listens because only when we have been heard and validated, do we feel cherished. So, ‘How’s your communication?’

10 Things Flight Attendant Won’t Tell You

Treat yourself nice

There are certain things the Flight Attendant won’t tell you but expects you to know.

Do well to avoid certain embarassing situations by noting the common things flight attendants complain most about:

  1. “An all-too-common scenario: I hand you a cup of coffee and say, ‘Cream and sugar?’ You say, ‘What?’ I say, ‘Cream and sugar?’ You say, ‘What?’ Come on, people. What do you think we’re going to ask after we’ve handed you coffee? Your favorite color?”
  2. “If you’re traveling overseas, do yourself a favor and bring a pen. You need one to fill out the immigration forms. I carry some, but I can’t carry 200.”
  3. “If you have a baby, bring diapers. If you’re diabetic, bring syringes. If you have high blood pressure, don’t forget your medication. That way, I’m not trying to make a diaper out of a pillowcase or asking over the intercom if someone has a spare inhaler.”
  4. “Just in case you hadn’t noticed, there are other people on the airplane besides you. So don’t clip your toenails or snore with wild abandon”
  5. “Do you really have to go to the bathroom right now, while we’re wrestling a 250-pound food cart down the aisle? You can’t wait 90 seconds for us to pass?”
  6. “No, it’s not OK to come back into the galley to stretch and bend over with your rear end in my face while I’m in my jump seat during my only break, trying to eat a meal.”
  7. “Yes, passengers are incredibly rude, but stealing a beer, cursing out passengers, and jumping out of a plane the way Steven Slater did is not the way to handle it”
  8. “Passengers are always coming up to me and tattling on each other. ‘Can you tell him to put his seat up?’ ‘She won’t share the armrest.’ What am I, a preschool teacher?”
  9. “The lavatory door is not rocket science. Just push.”
  10. “Want to start off on the wrong foot with me? Put your carry-on in a full overhead bin, leave it sticking out six inches, then take your seat at the window and wait for someone else (me!) to come along and solve the physics problem you just created.”
